Changes in taste, odor, or flow can also come from the water supply, plumbing, equipment, or another system component. A symptom doesn’t prove that the cartridge is the only cause.

During replacement, isolate the water supply, relieve system pressure, remove the used cartridge, inspect the head and sealing area, and install the new HF90 according to the system instructions. Don’t force the cartridge or use an improvised tool. A qualified professional should address damaged heads, leaking connections, abnormal pressure, or uncertain compatibility.

Flush a new HF90 before placing the connected equipment back into service. The documented NH3 and VH3 single-cartridge configurations require 10 gallons, approximately two minutes at 5 GPM. Other approved manifold arrangements have their own flushing requirements. Current High Flow instructions also require flushing after the system has remained unused for more than 72 hours.
