Keep your AquaPatrol Plus system on its intended treatment plan.
If the existing AquaPatrol Plus head and manifold are serviceable, the Scotsman APRC1-P renews the filtration media without requiring a complete new system. IceMachinesPlus supplies this one-cartridge replacement with a 30-Day Price Match Guarantee for added confidence at checkout.
Before ordering, read the model number on the installed system. The Scotsman APRC1-P is made for the AquaPatrol Plus family; it isn’t a universal Scotsman cartridge, and the filter head and manifold aren’t included. AP1-P, AP2-P, and AP3-P are single-, double-, and triple-cartridge systems.
Compatibility comes first, but the treatment method and operating conditions also need to match the application. Confirm these points before installation:
| Buying check | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Package contents | One Scotsman APRC1-P replacement cartridge; the filter head and manifold aren’t included |
| System match | AquaPatrol Plus AP1-P, AP2-P, or AP3-P shown on the installed system label |
| Cartridge quantity | One cartridge for AP1-P, two for AP2-P, or three for AP3-P when changing the complete set |
| Treatment method | Dirt and rust particle reduction, chlorine retention, and a phosphate feed that inhibits mineral buildup |
| System conditions | 50°F–100°F air, 40°F–100°F water, and 20–80 PSIG water pressure |
AquaPatrol Plus handles chlorine differently from many filtration systems. According to Scotsman’s water filtration specifications, it leaves chlorine in the incoming water to help keep the ice machine cleaner. Scotsman states that its ice-making process then removes noticeable chlorine. The cartridge also reduces dirt and rust particles and supplies phosphate to inhibit mineral deposits.
The Scotsman APRC1-P isn’t a water softener. Scale inhibition doesn’t remove hardness minerals or dissolve existing scale, so difficult water may require testing, additional treatment, and more frequent maintenance.
Use the Scotsman APRC1-P only with microbiologically safe water or water that receives adequate disinfection before or after filtration. The cartridge cannot sanitize the machine, correct a contaminated source, or replace routine cleaning.
Scotsman’s filtration sheet does not provide a fixed gallon capacity or universal replacement interval for this cartridge. Don’t borrow another product’s schedule. Our guide to replacing an ice machine water filter explains how time, use, pressure, flow, and water conditions affect service timing.
When replacement is due:
- Confirm the system model and required cartridge quantity.
- Follow its instructions for shutting off water and relieving pressure.
- Keep the cartridge connection and filter head clean.
- Install each required cartridge, restore water slowly, and flush exactly as directed.
- Check for leaks, then record the date and any pressure or flow readings.
Reduced flow or slow fills can indicate a loaded cartridge, but they don’t prove it. Confirm that the supply valve is open, the line isn’t kinked, and building pressure remains adequate. If the assembly needs replacement, compare complete ice machine water filtration systems instead of ordering a cartridge alone.
Filter service and machine maintenance remain separate. Replacing the Scotsman APRC1-P does not descale the water circuit or sanitize food-contact surfaces. Follow the exact machine instructions, supported by our commercial ice machine water filtration and cleaning guide.
A few practical questions can prevent the wrong cartridge or service plan.
- Which systems use the Scotsman APRC1-P, and how many cartridges are needed?
- The Scotsman APRC1-P is the one-cartridge replacement for AquaPatrol Plus systems. A complete change uses one for AP1-P, two for AP2-P, or three for AP3-P. Confirm the system label and quantity before ordering.
- How can you tell when it’s time to change the filter cartridge?
- Use the current system instructions and maintenance record. Replace the cartridge sooner when a confirmed restriction reduces pressure or flow. Slow filling can have other causes, so check the supply valve, water line, and building pressure first.
- Does the Scotsman APRC1-P remove chlorine?
- No. AquaPatrol Plus leaves chlorine in the incoming water to help keep the ice machine cleaner. The cartridge reduces dirt and rust particles and supplies phosphate for scale inhibition. The chlorine-removal claims of Scotsman’s separate SSM Plus line don’t apply.
- Can bacteria grow in filtered water?
- Yes. Filtered water and wet equipment can still support microbial growth. This cartridge isn’t a sanitizer and cannot make unsafe water safe. Use a potable or adequately disinfected supply, and clean and sanitize the machine as directed.
- How often should a Scotsman ice machine be cleaned?
- Follow the interval and procedure in the exact machine manual. Replacing the Scotsman APRC1-P does not remove existing scale or sanitize food-contact surfaces. Cartridge replacement, descaling, cleaning, and sanitizing are separate maintenance tasks.
